Suresh Raina was born in a Kashmiri Pandit family belonging to Anantnag. His mother’s name is Parvesh Raina, and his father worked in the Indian Army. Suresh is the younger brother among Dinesh Raina, Naresh Raina, and Mukesh Raina. Renu is the name of his elder sister. He got married to Priyanka Chaudhary in 2015and is blessed with a daughter named Gracia Raina. Under the captaincy of Suresh, the Indian Cricket team won the T-20 series against Zimbabwe in June 2010 by 2-0.
Suresh Raina Debut in International Cricket
Suresh made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 16 playing for U P team against Assam. Raina made his first-class limited overs debut in early 2005, scoring 645 runs in that season with an average of 53.75. He made his debut in the Test match against Sri Lanka in 2010 making a century.
Suresh Raina IPL career
Chennai Super Kings had a contract with Suresh for US$5 million for the first three seasons of IPL tournament. Suresh also captained the Chennai Super Kings for three matches in the absence of skipper MS Dhoni. He scored the much-needed half-century in the 2010 IPL final that led Chennai Super Kings to become the champions beating the Mumbai Indians.
Raina also performed very well in the 2011 IPL tournament by becoming the leading run-scorer with 438 runs. In the 2012 IPL final match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Raina scored 73 runs that helped his team put a big total on board. Raina made 548 runs in the 2013 IPL tournament with an average of 42.15 and strike rate of 150.13.
Raina is well known as an outstanding player for Chennai Super Kings. He was signed by the Gujarat Lions for the 2016 IPL tournament after the suspension of Chennai Super Kings.
